Learn to meditate: It’s Not as Hard as You Think

Meditation for psychic development peace and calm

Meditation!

Ugg! Before you give up or go bald pulling the last few strands of hair from your tender head, let me say it doesn’t have to be so hard, there are many simple meditation methods that may be just right for you.

When you’re starting, it's important to choose a meditation technique that's easy to pick up. Some of the simplest methods to start with are breathing meditation, walking meditation, or if you prefer, a "high-tech" meditation like Center-Pointe where all you need to do is sit down and play a CD.

There are pluses and minuses to each of these methods, but as a general rule, they are all easy enough to pick up.

Once you've decided on a meditation method, try it for a week or so to see whether it’s right for you. If it is, keep going with it, if not, then try another method instead. There is no one method that is perfect for all people, find the one that works best for you and your lifestyle.

Try the method out for about two weeks. Anything less and it's unlikely you've given the method a fair trial. After all, it probably took you more than one lesson to drive a car.

Do your best to meditate at the same time each day. Making it a daily habit helps when you are learning something new, set aside a specific time of the day when you are most likely to be able to carry out your meditation practice undisturbed by time constraints, other people, or responsibilities.

The point of meditation, no matter what technique you choose, is to bring you to a calmer and more peaceful state. To be most effective, meditation should be applied in a friendly, beautiful place, where no disturbing external factors can be found. You can either go to a loved place, in the middle of nature, for example, or you can build your own private meditation space in the comfort of your home.

Don’t forget to use all your senses, to induce a state of calm and relaxation. You can use quiet music, scented candles, diffused lights, or any other elements that can create a welcoming and calming meditation space. This is your space- make it just for you the way you like it.

Keep your meditation to about fifteen minutes, to begin with. If you sit down for an hour-long meditation you’re setting yourself up for a lot of frustration. Fifteen minutes is sufficient to relax and to detach from stress.

But where can I learn to meditate?

Like just about anything else in the twenty-first century the internet is a good place to begin your study of meditation. There are a great many simple tutorials on YouTube and various websites designed for beginners. So long as they're not complicated with lots of jargon. Most are good and take the time to explain any terms they are using so that beginners can understand them.

No, you don't have to look like this to meditate!

By correctly applying these breathing exercises throughout the session, your time meditating will be successful and fulfilling. While breathing, focus on all the changes that occur in your body when you inhale and exhale; this helps you to know your body better and to enjoy your breathing while infusing you with lots of pure needed air.

There are no strict rules about the ideal body position; you can find your personalized position that makes you feel safe, calm, and comfortable. The position of the body should be relaxed-no you don’t have to sit in a lotus position or turn yourself into a pretzel. Any position you choose is fine, as long as you’re comfortable. Try either lying down with your head on a pillow or sitting flat on the floor or bed.

The next step of this easy meditation technique induces relaxation of the muscles. You should do this while breathing- enjoy how your body loses the tension, step by step, allowing you to relax, you can imagine sinking into the couch, floating, or being very light, to help your body release all that unnecessary tension. After completing this step, you are ready to let your mind and imagination flow and to enjoy the meditation.

This easy meditation technique involves thinking (yes, thinking!) about certain meaningful phrases that create positive emotions and feelings. Choose a word, phrase, concept, or affirmation; repeat the selected words or phrases for a few minutes, while concentrating on your breathing and relaxation. With every repetition, you should try to attach new and deeper meanings to your concept or phrase.

I hope this will encourage you to start or re-start meditating for a calmer more centered and peaceful life. Good luck and don’t give up. I have faith in you.
