20 Steps to Positive Thinking

Change your mind- think Positive.

How we choose to view the world has a great deal to do with the energy we attract into our lives. When we have negative thoughts and attitudes we create negative energy that permeates our auras, our karma, and attracts negative things and people into our lives.

When we have positive thinking and positive attitudes we generate positive energy, karma, and attract positive things and people into our lives. Many people are so weighed down by life that they have fallen into the habit of negative thinking and are missing out on the blessings positive thinking can bring into their lives. Don't be one of those people. Learning to think positively is easier than you think!

Here are 20 steps you can take to train your mind to Think Positive.

1. Start the day with smiles and good cheer.

How you greet the morning will determine your day. Everything will go much better throughout the day if you welcome it with high spirits and good energy. Just smile! Smiles are free but absolutely priceless. Besides, they can really irritate the grouches of the world.

2. Ask for guidance.

God-The Source of all things is there to help, even more, God is a great delegator, do not be afraid to ask for guidance. Whether you ask God, your Spirit Guides, Angels, Arch Angels, or passed family members there are multitudes of entities on the other side willing to aid you along the way.

Knowing that God and these loving entities are on your side makes it easy to know we can accomplish anything that is in our best interest to accomplish. Nothing is impossible, and you are never alone.

3. Plan your day.

Plan your work, then work your plan. Doing so will help you avoid mistakes which can produce negative results, which then become negative thoughts which produce negative energy, and ultimately becomes negative karma.

Knowing what your goals for the day are, and planning how to accomplish them ahead of time can create a greater sense of calm and produces not only successful outcomes but positive energy as well. Thus creating more positive karma. YaY!

4. Keep your mind focused on what's important.

Your thoughts have as much to do with creating positive outcomes as your deeds do. Setting goals and priorities while visualizing a successful outcome creates the energy which makes it so. Create strategies for dealing with any potential problems in order to produce favorable results.

Taking your goals and strategies seriously while remembering to take time for relaxation and fun will keep the energy you produce positive and help avoid problems along the way.

5. Be detached from the outcome.

Whatever happens if for the best.

Like a roller coaster, life is full of ups and downs; there will always be down times when things just do not go your way. No matter how well you plan, strategies, or pray it may just not be in your best interest to have what you believe you want.

Spirit knows that what we need is not always what we want.

Accepting that and being flexible to changes will help you better deal with these down times. Avoid the “need” for things to work the way you desire or plan, try not to be disappointed. Look for what you are expected to learn from this outcome. Once you have learned the lesson in a positive way things will go your way again.

6. Give new ideas and challenges a try.

Opportunities to learn and change are always available. Changing attitudes and routines that are for your own good promotes growth on all levels. Change is important, we humans tend to get into routines that become ruts and eventually stagnation, change helps get us going again.

New opportunities come to us through change even if it was unexpected or even unwanted. New work projects, new people, new places all offer new chances to learn and grow. Take change with the idea of an adventure (even when it is scary- remember the rollercoaster is not always tame) and positive outcomes will happen.

7. Be realistic.

Make sure that what you want is possible. Hoping for something to happen which could never really materialize in real life, will only bring you disappointment. If you want something you must take the action to make it happen. You will not find Mr/Miss Right sitting in your living room, you will not become a famous ball player by watching TV, or climb Mt Everest without first climbing a few hills.

Set your goals and take appropriate measures, and allow for a proper period of time to achieve your goals. Hey, everything takes time be patient and keep the scope of your desires realistic.

8. Balance your desires.

We live on a planet of opposites and duality – light and dark, male and female, love and hate, gain and loss, pleasure and pain.

This is how the cycle of life goes.

We can never have all the good things in life at the same time. Earth is the planet of contrast, it is a very difficult school to attend but the rewards of it’s conflicting lessons are quite high.

In love, there will always be someone who gets hurt. In wealth, there will always be people who will not be fortunate enough. It is only by understanding the opposites and duality will we truly mature as souls.

Remember one can not truly understand the light if they have never known the darkness humans learn best through contrast and conflict. But our lessons, once learned, are far more understood by those souls who never choose to come to the University of Earth.

In the end, we discover that measure and moderation are the primary keys to understanding.

9. Care for your mental and physical health.

Taking time for yourself. Do not just take care of your health by eating right, exercising and such, but actually, pamper yourself on a regular basis. It is not selfish to take a break for you, take a long soak in a warm tub, get a massage, go for a walk on the beach or a hike in the woods, whatever you find enjoyable do it just for you. Find what you love to do, be creative and have fun. It will aid in your mental and physical well-being.

Take time to get to Know “You.” There is no other person in the world who can tell who you really are. Know your passions, favorites, and principles. Spend some quality time by yourself – reading, listening to music, daydreaming, etc. Learn to love and soothe yourself. Get to know you completely, then you will be aware of how far can you go physically, mentally, and emotionally. Remember if you do not love you, you will only attract those who will not love you either. You are a fantastic person, with so very much to offer, when you see that so will others.

10. Love yourself.

As I have already said, before you can expect other people to love and adore you, you need to love yourself first. Make a positive commitment to yourself, to learning, work, family, friends, nature, and other worthwhile causes. Praise yourself as much as you praise others regularly. Your arm won't break by patting yourself on the back now and then. Never allow others to define who you are. When you start feeling confident about yourself, positive thoughts will naturally flow to your mind. Loving yourself as a person and as a soul will create positive karma and a better life.

11. Laugh, Laugh, Laugh!

That rollercoaster isn’t random it is set in the grand amusement park that is Earth for a reason. Enjoy the rides, even the scary ones can be fun. You will surely have more pleasure in life once you learn to laugh at the absurdities of our strange, wonderful, weird world.

Enjoy. Have fun. Looking at the brighter side of life starts with entertainment and pleasure. Whether your illness is physical or emotional, a few laughs and giggles can help you throw away heavy burdens such as anxiety, disappointment, or nervousness even pain. Laughter is the best medicine, so they say. So Laugh! Even if it is only to make people wonder what you're up to.

12. Keep a list of your goals and actions.

Familiarize yourself with things you want to accomplish and with the steps you must take

to complete them. By the time you are certain of what you want to do in your life, a stronger mind and will power will exist within you. Remember you have free will, life is not happening to you, you are the mapmaker of your life, you plotted the course before you were even born.

You created the outline for this life and set the karmic lessons, but within that outline is a great deal of flexibility. Nothing is written in stone, you have the free will and the power to change anything in your life and make your desires a reality.

13. Associate with positive people.

Where ever you may be, whatever you are doing, look for optimistic people to do it with. There are lots of them if you will only look. Associate with them, hang out, discuss life. They can help you build self-confidence and self-esteem.

Optimism produces positive energy. It builds a sense of hope and an “everything will be ok” sort of attitude. It may irritate the pessimist but just laugh and be positive that one day when they are ready they too will enjoy the peace your optimistic outlook provides.

14. Make asking questions a habit.

Curiosity comes from the soul, it is the reason we keep going even when common sense tells us to give it up and go home. Always be curious, ask questions, and learn.

Asking questions is not about stupidity or ignorance; rather, it is seeking more information to understand matters more clearly. With more knowledge, there is also more power. Get into the habit of asking questions and you may be surprised at the things you have been missing.

15. Be open and flexible.

We don’t know everything, that’s just a simple fact. We are continually learning where ever we go, and with every person, we meet. Never close your mind to new ideas or information. Your brain will not explode, there is always room for more knowledge, more understanding.

Accept those things which have the ring of truth and help you evolve into a higher soul.

Never give up, life can be difficult and confusing, and painful, but it is not a trap. There is always a solution to every problem, always another way out, another way to solve a problem. Ask and look for the way, it will be revealed to you as long as you remain open and flexible.

16. Have trust in other people.

Trust.

Do not let the actions of one person determine how you trust every other person.

Although it may seem difficult and risky to give your trust to people, when you believe in them, doubts and negative judgments will be unnecessary.

Having trust will help create harmonious relationships between you and others. Will you get hurt? Maybe, but spending your life in suspicion and mistrust will harm you more than anything another person could do to you. Trust is risky but the benefits are peace of mind and positive karma.

17. Forgive and forget.

Everyone makes mistakes. We are all flawed souls on our journey to perfection.

Mistakes and failures happen, they are the root causes of negative thinking. If we somehow learn to let go of all the pain, agony, and fear we try to keep inside our hearts and minds, then there will be nothing more to block our clear thoughts from being expressed.

Forgive so you can have peace. Remember blame doesn’t matter. Who did what to who is irrelevant, it is all a learning experience. Learn the lesson, forgive, and let it go with gratitude for the knowledge you have gained. And don’t forget to forgive your own mistakes, learn from them, then let them go without guilt, regret, or any negative energy. Forgiveness is for you as much as for the other party. So forgive.

18. Learn from experiences.

Every experience is a lesson designed to give us the opportunity to grow and evolve as a person and a soul.

Ask questions.

Learning inside the classroom is different from learning outside it. In school, one learns the lesson first before taking an exam; while in real life, one takes the test first before learning the lesson. This test in real life is our experiences. If we failed in that test, the experience usually results in pain. The pain is there for a reason, it’s Gods way of making sure we do not forget what we have learned.

Unfortunately, when lessons come too easy we usually forget them. Study the situation and learn the lessons, once they have been learned and integrated to the point we are unlikely to easily forget it- the pain goes away. Thus, we avoid committing the same mistakes twice. Do not learn the lesson and it will be given over and over until you do. So learn them as quickly as you can, and thank the villains in your life who volunteered to deliver those lessons to you.

19. Count your blessings.

Most of us spend much more time thinking about all the things we do not have. Love, money, a nice house, a dog! Whatever it is we want but don’t have we focus on. Focus instead on what you do have rather than what you do not. There is always a silver lining hidden somewhere in that cloud hanging over your head, find it (even if you need a shovel) and count it as a blessing.

Life is truly wonderful, but it is hard to see that when you look only at your deficits instead of your blessings. The absence of our desires can only bring us discontent and disappointment if we refuse to see how much we do have that is good. Don’t waste your time. Be thankful and appreciative of all the blessings you receive.

Replace negative thoughts with positive ones.

20. Kiss your worries goodbye.

At the end of every day, before going to sleep, let go of bad experiences and unhappy moments that happened throughout the day. Throw them out of the window and kiss them goodbye. Dream sweetly. As a new day unfolds, new hope arises. Keep believing. Always have faith, gratitude, and think positively.
